The Hall

Our comfortable, modern village hall is an attractive and practical venue for social gatherings, meetings and family parties. We also welcome bookings from local businesses wishing to hold seminars, traning courses or staff functions. The hall has a ramped entrance and fire exits.

The Setting

A quiet, traffic-free village setting between a medieval church and recreation field with views across to the Berkshire Downs. Easy access to the A34 (southbound only) 2 minutes away. Close to Harwell Business Centre, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, MRC, Diamond Synchrotron, Milton Park and Didcot.

There is a tarmac car park with spaces for approximately 40 cars. The rear of the hall opens onto an attractive grass recreation field with space for a marquee or outside catering (e.g. barbecue, pig roast).

The Facilities

A spacious, bright main hall, licensed for 150, with a public entertainment licence and fire certification. We have 128 comfortable folding chairs in blue and red, and 30 folding tables, each of which can seat up to 6. We also have 2 larger buffet tables. There are also dedicated children's chairs (8 junior, 8 pre-school) and tables (4). All furniture is stored and transportable on trolleys, and there are store cupboards for all the furniture if an open empty space is required.There is a foldaway white projector screen, a PA and speaker system and suitable power sockets for audio visual equipment.

The use of the fully fitted kitchen, with a serving hatch to the main hall, is included in the booking fees. It features an electric cooker, microwave, twin-sink, hand-wash basin and refrigerator.

There are individually controlled heaters, and electricty is included in the booking fee. There is a disabled toilet with nappy changing facilities, and a lobby/cloakroom with coat hooks. The use of the halls' piano and modular staging blocks are included in the booking. Within 50 metres of the hall is a fenced playground and swings for young children, plus the Chilton Active play area, featuring a slide, circular swings and zip-wire for older children.

  • The Chilton "At Home" group meeting at the Rose & Crown for anyone working at home, retired, self-employed, stay-at-home parents or in between jobs. Join other like minded people on Thursday 31st May from 11am to 1pm.
  • The next Ordinary Parish Council meeting is on Wednesday 13th June at 8pm in the Village Hall meeting room. The public are always welcome to attend the meetings to raise any issues.
