Chilton Village Hall Extension/Refurbishment Consultation

Consultation Meetings 2011

Come and make our Village a better place. A condition of the planning permission for the new Chilton Field development is for a sum of money to be given to the Parish Council for the purpose of providing improvements to the current village hall. The Parish Council and Village Hall Management Committee have decided that in order to ensure these improvements best meet the needs of the village hall community and stakeholders a full consultation exercise will be carried out.

You are invited to three consultation events being held at Chilton Village Hall:

Wednesday 31st August (5pm- 9pm) - Wine and cheese evening

Saturday 10th September (10am-12 noon) – Family Fun

Saturday 1st October (10am-12 noon) – Tea and Cakes

Come to one event or come to them all. This is your opportunity to make your ideas known and we hope to see as many of you, across all age groups, as possible.

Update following Consultation Meetings

Thank you to everyone who attended the consultation events. The events were very successful with approximately 150 people attending one or more event.
To date we have only analysed the Village Hall Improvements data and as such this update will focus on this element of the consultation.  We will report your views on the Artwork in the next issue. Below is a link to three graphs which summarise the feedback that we received.
In conclusion, the top five priorities for the Village Hall improvement are:–

* Better storage facilities
* An extension to open the hall to an outside area
* Updated kitchen facilities
* Refurbishments of toilet facilities
* Improvement in the general decoration

As a result of this feedback, we will now focus on these areas and this will form the basis of the next phase of the consultation. The next step is for the consultation team to understand exactly what the village community requires in respect of these five improvements. This is where we will be asking for further input.  Over the next few weeks a questionnaire with some more detailed questions will be sent to every household in Chilton. Please take time to complete and return this, as the more feedback we get, the better we will understand the needs and requirements of the village. As you may be aware, we only have limited funds for the Village Hall improvements.  Therefore we need to focus on your top priorities, as detailed above.  We will return to your list of feedback if we have any money remaining, after your priority work has been undertaken, to provide further improvements.
There is a third graph to view via the link, that illustrates the type of events that the village community would like to see held at the hall.  These are all brilliant ideas and we will consider them all.  However we will need volunteers to organise such events. If you would be interested and feel you may have the time and skills to help please contact Sue Granger at consultation@chiltonvillagehall.co.uk

PS. One idea that received support was for a Village Shop.  However, this is outside the remit of the Village Hall Committee. We appreciate that this is an idea with many supporters, and as such we are happy to set up a meeting for people who wish to create their own focus group to pursue this ambition for Chilton.  Please email Sue Granger at consultation@chiltonvillagehall.co.uk if you would be interested in attending/chairing such an event.
